AESF For The Future

Meet The Candidates

National Officer Candidates:

Paul Fisher for AESF President
Paul E. Fisher
AESF National President

I sincerely value the nearly 100 years of tradition of the AESF and am eager to provide the leadership the Society needs in order to ensure these traditions never die. I promise to provide the time, energy and resources necessary. I accept the challenge to reinvigorate the AESF though new membership, better benefits and a refocus on our original mission and purpose.

A vote for any one of the “AESF For the Future” candidates is a vote for AESF to remain the internationally recognized leader in education for the metal finishing industry. Your vote will help the AESF remain intact as a individual membership based society focused on the education and future development of all aspects of metal finishing; and the dissemination of that information to its membership.

Ted Mooney
AESF National Vice President

Our AESF -- our individual membership educational society -- is the exact tool we need if we are to be able to address the sweeping technological and global changes facing the surface finishing industry. But the ship has been off course for several years now; although we've been led by good and honest people whose hearts have been in the right place, their vision unfortunately has not.

The future for America and our surface finishing practitioners lies in enthusiastically embracing new technologies. And this mission will attract new blood, too. Although reality constrains what technologies a shop or supplier can adopt at a given time, it should not constrain what technologies we learn about and show enthusiasm for. We should cooperate fully with the trade groups who serve our industry, but we should not allow ourselves to be co-opted by them and their inherently narrower interests.

If the council of delegates votes to turn the ship around and retain an independent AESF, a fresh crew stands ready to man the helm and I am delighted to be a part of it.

Stephen A. Candiloro, Sr.

Ira Donavan

I have been involved with the finishing industry for over 15 years. After carefully reviewing the merger documents, I cannot support the merger as proposed. I have been active on the national level through the support and chairing of technical committees. If elected to the board of directors, my goal is to enhance and promote the technical programs and dissemination of information to the members of AESF to provide more value to their membership.

  1. If you do not believe in a balanced profit and loss statement and if you do not believe that the Board must never authorize deficit spending with the approval of the COD.  You Should NOT Vote For Me!
  2. If you do not believe that the education program is more important than the government relations program. You Should NOT Vote For Me
  3. If you do not believe that we must work closely with the NAMF and MFSA on mutually beneficial programs, without the problems and formality of the proposed “Reorganization” documents. - You Should NOT Vote For Me
  4. If you believe that our most recent Boards have, in the overall, done a great job in managing and directing our wonderful society.  -You Should NOT Vote For Me
  5. Finally, if you do not believe that AESF members are the most important asses of our Society, and if you do not believe that the Board of Directors must do everything possible to provide programs that will benefit all of our members and our branches.  You Should NOT Vote For Me

Jerry Phillips

AESF has been a central part of my professional life for nearly twenty years.  The many benefits I received have been very important in my professional growth.  The networking opportunities, educational services and chance to be a part of a group of people in my same industry have been a critical part of what I am today.

For many years I have been involved in various National AESF activities.  While serving as Branch Services Chairman for the past three years I have seen the importance of Branches.  My passion for AESF has always been based on the fact that successful leadership at National level is directly related to communication with the Branches.  I believe AESF will need to promote education opportunities and offer our members more services on a regional basis to increase membership.  Branches need the support from National to provide local services that will make membership appealing to people in our industry.
